FUNDING BRIEFING DAYS WITH ACVO - 2008

Funding Briefing Days are interactive training workshops provided by Alison Chandler, Funding Officer at Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations and are targetted at the staff, Management Committee members or volunteers of voluntary sector organisations with priority given to those working in or based in Aberdeen City. 

Each workshop will have particular value to organisations which are either small and new or currently largely dependent on statutory funding.  They also serve as an introduction to the Funding Support service provided by ACVO.  Places are available for a maximum of 10 delegates per workshop - with a maximum of 2 places per organisation.  Bookings must be through the formal booking form not by e-mail to the Funding Officer.  Each of the following workshops has previously been provided.  This programme may be added to during the year ahead.

INTRODUCTION TO FUNDRAISING (half day/evening) Previously provided April 2008, this explores the Fundraising Cycle and the Fundraising Pyramid and provides an introduction to 3 kinds of income generation. INTRODUCTION TO RAISING YOUR PROFILE (half day) Previously provided April 2007, this looks at the value, the risks and the methods of raising the profile for your organisation. Thursday 19th June 10.00am-1.00pm (£10 per delegate) - FULLY BOOKED

BEING “BUSINESS-LIKE” - INTRODUCTION TO PLANNING A SUSTAINABLE INDEPENDENT VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION (evening) Previously provided October 2007, this looks at how voluntary organisations can ensure they are around for the long-term, weathering the cuts and responding to people in need. It introduces the value of planning for our sector, the essential components of a plan and the process of planning. Thursday 26th June 5.00pm-8.00pm (£10 per delegate)

INTRODUCTION TO STRATEGIES FOR FUNDRAISING (full day) (Note: This full day contains much of the same exercises as “Introduction to Fundraising” but explores the issues in greater depth. INTRODUCTION TO TRUSTS & FOUNDATIONS (half day) Previously provided April 2008.  This explores the characteristics of grant-giving trusts and foundations, where such fundraising fits for your organisation and how to approach such a strategy.
