Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) have produced a publication called Organising an Event which will take you through all you need to know about organising an event from the initial planning stages to evaluating the success of your event. it covers all stages in event organising and contains sample checklists, costings forms and evaluation forms.

And there's more! Following on from the above publication is - Effective & Accessible Events - A Guide for the Voluntary Sector (2003).  Staging an accessible event means making sure that everyone can attend your event and participate once they are there.
