Aberdeen Women's Alliance

The Alliance is the women’s consultative forum for Aberdeen City, which encourages women living and working in Aberdeen to meet together, and to act as a voice for women in Aberdeen to collectively influence decisions of the Council and its partners.

Aberdeen Women’s Alliance is looking for women from a variety of ages, backgrounds and experiences, women who want to make a real difference to their communities, women who are interested in sharing information and experience, supporting each other, and having fun in building new networks.

Every woman living or working in the city can join Aberdeen Women’s Alliance. Community groups who have women as members and groups who work with women may send along a woman representative. Membership is free.

Membership entitles you to take part in all meetings and to receive updated information.

Membership of Aberdeen Women's Alliance

Your valued membership – if you do no more – is a positive action.

Aberdeen Women’s Alliance is guided by the following principles:

Women Focused – The Alliance is run by and for women.

Inclusive – The Alliance is inclusive and welcomes participation from all women in the city, particularly those who do not normally get a chance to air their views.

A Learning Culture – Each woman can make a unique contribution to the Alliance, within a safe environment, where ideas and views can be expressed freely.

Equality for all – All women will be treated with equal respect and all will be listened to equally.

Accessible – The Alliance will aim to be barrier free so that every woman can participate.

In Partnership – The Alliance works with other organisations to achieve its goals.

Empowering – The Alliance will seek to support and enable women to develop and learn how   to effectively influence change in the city, for the benefit of all in the community.

Credible – The Alliance will work to establish its position to effectively represent the interests of women.

Enjoyable – In pursuing its actions and seeking positive outcomes the Alliance is also enjoyable and fun.
