AWA AGM 2010
29th June 2010
The Citadel

The AGM began with an insightful and thought-provoking talk by Kerry Watt, a young woman from the Aberdeen City Youth Council.Following Kerry's talk, AWA members then reflected on the past year and commended the success of International Women's Day and the International Day Against Violence Against Women events despite the reduction in grant funding. Feedback from both events was positive and the members are keen to start work on the events for the coming year.

The members thanked Sue Rae for her dedication over the last few years as she stepped down as Convener, but she maintains her support through the Lead Group. Nominee Norma Grant has now taken up the position of Convener and is keen to build on the success of the previous Convener. Positions for the Lead Group and Office Bearer posts were also voted on, with Pat Wokoma accepting the post of Vice-Convener and Sandra Macdonald taking up the post of Secretary.

The members of AWA are looking forward to the year ahead and are already discussing upcoming events, campaign possibilities and issues which they are eager to be involved in.Priorities over the coming year will be discussed at the next AWA Lead Group meeting. Priorities to be discussed include opportunities for AWA to become more involved with the local community and to obtain feedback from local women about the issues they are keen to see the AWA take on this year.
