Speaker: Theresa Casey is a freelance play consultant and author, publishing with SAGE publications. With a degree in Painting from Edinburgh College of Art and Post Graduate in Playwork, Theresa's career has spanned adventure play, supporting inclusion through play in schools and community networks (the Play Inclusive Action Research Project – P.inc) and developing play opportunities for children in disadvantaged communities in Thailand.
Theresa has recently been elected to serve a second term as President of the International Play Association: Promoting the Child's Right to Play www.ipaworld.org
The Play Workers from the Come and Play Project will also be reporting on how the project has gone and the way forward for the project, and there will be an opportunity to discuss and contribute to the review of Aberdeen City Play Policy.
Who Should Attend
This conference is aimed at anyone who may have influence over the spaces chil-dren play in, and also those who work where children play.

What is free play and why do children need this?
This is a practical workshop aimed at after-school workers and parents. It explores the ideas and research behind free play and how we can facilitate this either at home or in an after-school setting.
It's a great chance to pick up lots of low cost ideas for keeping children happily occupied for hours, inside and out in all weathers and seasons. Please come dressed for practical work which may include a short session outside.

Speaker: Juliet Robertson is an outdoor learning consultant who set up Creative STAR Learning Company, a social enterprise that supports people, groups and organisations to get children outside at a local and national level. She writes a popular blog "I'm a teacher, get me OUTSIDE here!" that provides ideas on outdoor play.
