We were delighted to see the Arts Centre almost full for the excellent 'I Am What I Am' Showcase on Saturday 28th August 2010. Our Singersand Musicians were aided by members from Aberdeen Youth Music Theatre ( under the direction of Sarah Littlejohn BMus, RSAMD ), Bonne Accordia and the Academy Street School of Dance ( choreographed by Gillian Auld ) with the Show being Directed by Debbie Kirkness ( Music 4 U ) Our own Doug Duthie was the most excellent Master of Ceremonies.
It was a memorable evening with the audience applauding, toe tapping and clapping all evening.
The Consortium wish to thank the Lord Provost and the Lord Provosts' Trust and all who supported this most worthwhile venture !
It is hoped that a Stage School may be created as a Legacy to the Show……..contact Debbie on - debbie@m4u.org.uk - for details.

100 DAYS TO PREPARE FOR SWITCHOVER
Viewers in the north east urged to get set for the end of analogue TV
With just 100 days to the start of digital TV switchover in Aberdeen City and Shire, Digital UK is urging viewers to get ready for 1 September, when analogue television will start to be turned off. Viewers in Tomintoul, Brechin and Gourdon will also start switchover from that date.
Latest research* indicates that most viewers are well prepared, with more than nine out of ten households already having made the switch to digital TV. Those still watching in analogue are now being advised to get ready for switchover – when Freeview coverage will be boosted to reach virtually all homes – or risk being left with a blank screen.
Digital UK and the Switchover Help Scheme are stepping up their communications campaigns across the Durris transmitter area. Roadshows will launch across the north east and a detailed 20-page guide to switchover is being sent to every household. The guide includes useful tips on retuning Freeview equipment and how to choose the right regional service in areas where signals overlap. On-screen messages on analogue channels have also resumed, backed by TV, press and radio advertising. |
The Help Scheme (helpscheme.co.uk) will be writing to eligible older and disabled people, reminding them of the assistance on offer to convert one TV set to digital, including a choice of equipment, installation and aftercare. The help is available for those aged 75 and over; or who are eligiblefor certain disability benefits; or registered blind or partially sighted; or living in care homes.
John MacNeil, Digital UK Assistant National Manager for Scotland, said: "Most people have already made the switch to digital, but we know some people may leave it until the last minute, or may need a little extra advice. We're urging anyone still watching analogue television to make the change now and to contact the Help Scheme if they're eligible for practical support.
"Anyone who still needs advice on switching can visit the Digital UK website or call our advice line. We'll also be holding roadshows and advice clinics at the time of switchover."
Viewers can check their switchover date and options for getting digital TV by using the Digital UK postcode checker at digitaluk.co.uk or by ringing 08456 50 50 50.

Laurencekirk Station Visit
Recently, the Consortium Chairman - Dave McDonald - was asked to join a multi agency group looking at Rail Access at Aberdeen Station and within Grampian.
A Visit to the recently re opened and refurbished Laurencekirk Station took place only for the Group to find there were no Toilets.....!
Dave also suggested that there should be a Designated Disabled Drop Off Point just outside the Ticket Office
in the Concourse. He also stated that a seat beside the dropped counter in the Ticket Office would be an asset.
If you have any other suggestions, please let Dave know. |
