What has been achieved so far?
- The Official launch took place on the 6th July 2000 at the Town House (see picture below) when Civic Hospitality was granted by Aberdeen City Council. Guest Speaker—Anne Begg MP.
- The Consortium's Inaugural AGM took place on the 4th May 2001. Guest Speaker—Anne Begg MP.
- Open Meetings are held regularly, relating to current issues affecting disability.
- The Consortium is run by an elected Executive Committee and new members are always sought.
- The Consortium are Constituted and acquired Charitable Status in Jan 2001.
- The Consortium's website was implemented in January 2002.
- Pilot Newsletter 'Disseminate' was produced and then circulated in March 2002. Funding for regular Newsletters will be pursued.
- A Conference on the Effect of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 took place in March 2004 and 2005. A joint Conference on Employment and Disability was held in 2006, with Aberdeen Action on Disability. All were most successful events.
The Official Launch of the Aberdeen Disability Consortium took place on July 6th 2000 with the help of Anne Begg M.P. at a Civic Reception in the Aberdeen City Council Chambers.
