SEI will provide a Netbook and internet access to young people with epilepsy aged 13 -19 wishing to access their online social networking site, The TEA Room. There are over 8,500 young people with epilepsy across Scotland and the TEA Room has been designed to allow teenagers to interact with their peers, gain support and share their experiences of epilepsy in a safe and supportive environment. The TEA Room will encourage young people with epilepsy to overcome feelings of isolation by addressing the stigma that accompanies the diagnosis, and stimulate healthy interaction with their peers. The TEA Room (Teenage Epilepsy Agenda) is available to all teenagers with epilepsy in Scotland. The charity is offering free Netbooks and internet connection to young people with epilepsy so that financial disadvantage doesn’t prevent them accessing the TEA Room. |
