Description Induction is an entitlement for every new worker joining the Early Years & Childcare Sector. In support of the employer’s responsibility to provide induction, the Workforce Development & Training Standing Action Group have developed the Common Induction programme -

The programme is aimed at:

Staff new to the Sector - the Programme should be accessed within first 6 months of employment.
Staff who are not new to the Sector; who do not hold a qualification; and have not participated in an induction programme.

Session One
Understand Your Role as a Worker

Session Two
Principles & Values essential for working with Children & Young People

Session Three
Understand the development of children and young people

Session Four
Children’s Rights & Protection

Expected Outcomes:

The successfully completed induction demonstrates that a worker has the basic information and knowledge necessary for working with children and young people.
